The Editor's Choice Process
By Staff Writer
The Web Host Magazine & Buyer's Guide Editors' Choice Award are presented once a month. These awards are presented to companies in the Web Hosting Industry. These awards span all categories and hosting communities. There is no set amount of awards, nor quotas to meet. They are uncompromising. If we do not think any Web Hosts performed exemplary for a given month, then we WILL NOT give an Editors' Choice Award to any Host. By not setting a specific amount of awards, we ensure the validity and quality of the Web Host Magazine & Buyer's Guide Editors' Choice Award.
What makes the Editors' Choice Award so different from the Buyer's Guide Reviews?
The differences between our Buyer's Guide Reviews and our Editors' Choice Award are many. Reviews encompass only part of the evaluation of a Editors' Choice Award winner. Because of this, reader reviews and industry and reader feedback have a more direct influence on the Editors' Choice Award process.
The Editors' Choice Award picks change from month to month; our Buyer's Guide reviews only change when the service or product is re-evaluated.
The main decision makers for our Buyer's Guide Reviews are the Independent Review Panel. The Editors' Choice Award picks are chosen by our editorial staff.
This may sound redundant, but the Buyer's Guide Reviews are reviews and the Editors' Choice Awards are awards. Reviews give an in-depth view of a service or product. The Editors' Choice Awards are a means for us to present kudos to those companies who provide outstanding products or services.
What sets them apart from other Host Awards?
The main difference between the Editors' Choice Award and other awards is our lack of quotas. This is not a Top 5, Top 10, or even a Top 20 award. The Editors' Choice Award goes to those companies, products, and services that we believe are the best for that month. If that means nobody gets one for a specific month, so be it. If it means 20 different companies get one, so be it.
You may disagree with our choices for the Editors' Choice Award, but you can be sure that a great deal of time and thought goes into our choices. We provide a variety of ways for you to get in touch with us to voice your own opinions. In fact, we welcome all input from our readers.
Our Process
The process of choosing is the sole responsibility of the Web Host Magazine & Buyer's Guide's editorial staff. However, this is not a "lone gun" affair. Quite the contrary. Editors take into account, but are not limited to, the following:
- Input from the Independent Review Panel
- Buyer's Guide Reviews
- Reader Reviews
-
Industry Feedback:
Any and all correspondence from Web Host Industry Related Companies -
Reader/Customer Feedback:
Any and all correspondence from our readers - Web Hosting Chat groups and Forum
Editors identify a number of different companies that span the entire Web Host Industry. Companies are chosen from many different areas such as Web Hosts, Host Finders, Products, Domain Name Registrars, and Industry Related Services. Each company is weighed on the merits of the products and services they bring to market.
Products and services found to be exceptional, in one form or another, are then examined by the editorial staff. The editorial staff then consider the positives and the negatives of the product and conclude if the product or service is of the quality necessary to warrant an Editors' Choice Award.
As you can see we are very thorough. In fact, the Web Host Magazine & Buyer's Guide Editors' Choice Award is one of the most comprehensive Web Host Industry awards on the net. We are quite pleased with our Editors' Choice Awards and it is our hope that they aid you in making sound decisions when choosing a service or product.
