Canadian Web Hosting launched its pre-production Enterprise Public Cloud service running on OpenStack Icehouse called AURO. The company said on Tuesday that it aims to pit AURO against the big public cloud providers for Canadian enterprise customers, and claims it offers better rates.
To design AURO, Canadian Web Hosting worked with Cloudscaling, Juniper, Nimble Storage, and other vendors to ensure “truly enterprise” availability, infrastructure redundancy, scalability, and comprehensive compliance, according to the company. AURO is AWS and GCE compatible, offers full API controls, and is SSAE 16 compliant.

San Antonio-based Web hosting company Rackspace is seeking state incentives for its new $32 million office expansion into the old Highland Mall – which the company says will create 500 jobs in Austin over the next decade.
The company outlined the goals in filings with the Travis County Commissioner’s Court, which will consider designating the project as an Enterprise Project under the state Enterprise Zone program.
Such a designation would allow Rackspace to seek up $1.25 million in state sales tax rebates. Rackspace officials declined to comment on this story.

The CEO of web hosting company Endurance International Group (Nasdaq: EIGI) said the company plans to hire as many as 300 employees at its Burlington headquarters over the next three to five years and is considering acquisitions.
