Overview:
Started back in 1997, Jumpline.com used to provide inexpensive Unix-based virtual hosting packages. In 2002, Jumpline.com changed gears. Today, Jumpline.com offers Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) hosting solutions. VDS gives customers more freedom, stronger performance, a more secure hosting environment, administrative privileges, and a lot more.
When last we looked at Jumpline.com (December of 2005) our Independent Review Panel enjoyed the features, upgrades price, their strong network and extended hour toll free support; they weren't satisfied with the file allocation. During a relook, Jumpline.com is still doing well but haven't improved their web space.
When last we reviewed Jumpline.com (February of 2001) our Independent Review Panel did not find much to get excited over. Jumpline.com's new VDS-centric hosting is a vast improvement. One of the first things our Independent Review Panel noticed was the increase in features. Jumpline.com supports a dizzying amount of Internet technologies to include Mod PHP, Mod Perl, ColdFusion, Java Runtime, Miva Merchant, Site Builder, Real Media, and a lot more.
Although Web space and monthly Data Transfer are at the industry average, they are both a great improvement over the old hosting solutions. The only problem our Independent Review Panel found with Jumpline.com's features was the use of file allocation limits. This is only a very minor problem with Jumpline.com, considering the file allocation is very high and very few would ever reach it.
Pricing at Jumpline.com is very good for VDS hosting solutions. What caught our Review Panel's eye was the pricing of upgrades. Most upgrades cost a monthly fee or a monthly fee plus surcharge. The majority of upgrades found at Jumpline.com have an initial setup fee and that’s it.
Jumpline.com's network operations center is located in Qwest's state of the art CyberCenter. Four OC-48s connect the center to the Internet, providing a high capacity and fully redundant network. Coupled with excellent security and disaster control equipment, this facility is as good as they come.
24/7 email, FAQ sheets, and extended hour toll free phone support round out Jumpline.com's support offerings. Their FAQ sheets and knowledge base are easily navigated and provided good answers for routine questions. Wait times for both email and phone support were very good. All-in-all Jumpline.com's support is very good.
Verdict:
If you are looking for Unix-based hosting with a bit more power, but not overly expensive, Jumpline.com may have what you are looking for. But if you are looking for high-grade Unix-based hosting, their Virtual Dedicated Server hosting solutions give you more flexibility than traditional virtual hosting as well as increased security.
Pros:
Lots of Features • Inexpensive Upgrades • Strong Network • Extended Hour Toll Free Support
Cons:
File Allocation
